I recently watched the movie Julia & Julia and I was inspired by her blogging and I have been reminded about how long it has been since I have posted an update on Keeton. The month of January has been a busy month full of Doctor's appointments and legal headaches. It is often very overwhelming to think about our situation let alone find the appropriate words to describe or explain our feelings in the matter. It is HARD, plain and simple.
No matter how hard it is, we still have a lot of good things that are happening around us, one of which has been a series of Doctor's appointments that have left us with much hope regarding Keeton's condition. This month we met with his Nuero Surgeon, Nuerologist, Opthamologist, had a Nuero Development appointment and took Keeton in for weekly head measurements.
Because of Keeton's injuries, he has to have his head measured once a week. They are closely monitoring his head size to ensure that it is growing properly. Extreme jumps in numbers high or lower could indicate swelling or shrinking of the brain. His head growth continues to measure right in line with what it should be at his age. We continue to pray for steady growth.
We met with the Nuero Surgeon who sent us on an emotional roller coster for the next several days. This was the most traumatic appointment we had. The manner in which the Doctor treated us that day was appalling. In a matter of 5 minutes and only a head measurement, the Doctor diagnosed our son with Cerebral Palsy. We were crushed and left us with numerous unanswered questions.
When we met with the Nuerologist we decided to not tell them what had happened at the Nuero Surgeons office, we wanted them to exam Keeton with an open mind. The Nuerologist had a good report, they never mentioned CP to us, the only thing that seemed concerning to them at this time was the tone in his legs, which could be fixed with some phyiscal therapy and his vision. When she was trying to get Keeton's attention with a toy, he wasn't looking at it or tracking it very well.
Next we took him to the Opthamolgist. When we were in the hospital they told us that he had retinal hemorrages in both eyes. They performed tests and examed his eyes, with much relief they told us that Keeton was able to see and the hemorrages are healing well.
The last appointment we had was Nuero Development, this was another encouraging appointment. We did talk to them about CP, they felt that it was too early to really diagnose him at this point. Keeton's movements are still fluid and he is continuing to develop as he should be.
We are so grateful for the healing that God has done on Keeton, there is no question in our mind that he has placed His hands on our boy and been working miracles in his life. It is encouraging to see his work being done with Keeton, we do wish that we could see more being done with the legal troubles. We see Keeton for 10 hours a week with supervised visits. He is now in the foster care system, still in the custody of my parents. The perpetrator is still out there and hasn't come forward. We pray often for this person, we pray that God would place conviction on their heart to come forward. I will not give up hope that God will lead them to do the right thing. Our next court date is March 2nd.

Wow, craziness...I literally could not imagine! PRaying that Keeton continues to heal and you will be reunited soon!
