Remembering the Good

It has been really difficult for me to sit down and post an update this last week.  Although Keeton has been home from the hospital, our family is still not together and it has been a struggle just coping with the reality of our situation.  Work has been a good distraction, but at times I feel like we are walking time bomb, just about explode.  It all just seems so unfair, we often ask Why Keeton? Why our sweet little boy? Why us?  How much more of this can we really take? It is so easy to begin to wallow in our self pitty and forget about the good things that have come from this situation and just loose sight of God who is in it all.

  • My parents being able to have temporary custody of Keeton instead of foster care.
  • My parents being able to supervise our visits with Keeton instead of 2 hours a week in a nuetral location.
  • My family getting to spend more time getting to know Keeton and being able to take care of him.
  • Gerald's mom being able to take us in while CPS investigates.
  • The Doctors placed in our lives.
  • Nurses that encouraged us and took care of Keeton while we were in the hospital.  One of our nurses had heard about Keeton at her church during their prayer request and the next day he was her patient.
  • Saniya's mom's heart was softened towards me. Saniya said it best, "Isn't it great your friends now."
  • Keeton's healing and continued progress. He has come a long way since first being admitted in the hospital.
  • Having my family so close and being able to see them so often.
  • Support, love, prayer from more people than we can even begin imagine.
I am thankful for all the good we have seen thus far and I look forward to finding more good come out of this.

  1. Hi Betsy: Your mom just face-booked me and told me to check-out your blog. I did not know you were having a baby, and don't know what has happened; but I am grateful that your parents are there and taking care of your precious baby. You and Gerald, along with Keeton will be in my prayers. Donna Johanningsmeier
